Dear Fellow Patent Agents & Trademark Agents:

Thank you everyone for your participation in the recent election for the CPATA Board of Directors.  I am grateful for being elected to the Board as a patent agent and looking forward to beginning our work.

Congratulations to Brigitte Chan, Jeffrey Astle and Leonora Hoicka for their election to the CPATA Board.  I also extend a heartfelt thank you to Kevin Holbeche, Colin Climie, Cathy Ma, Neil Padgett, Ali Sodagar, Julien Collin, Karol Pawlina, Anna Sosis, Peter Cooke and Douglas Thompson for ensuring that a wide slate of highly-qualified candidates was offered.  It is a privilege to have been on the roster with each of you, and I welcome your input and guidance as we move forward to fulfill our mandate.

During the campaign, many agents expressed concerns around “one-size fits all” insurance and related concerns regarding the rigidity of membership classifications.  Other comments have been raised and I am making note of them.  Please, of course, feel free to keep sharing your thoughts with me.

The first meeting of the new Board will take place May 27, 2022. You may wish to check the CPATA website for past meetings and how to register for this one.

I am looking forward to the work of fostering excellence, inclusion and pride in our profession as we fulfill our professional roles of boosting IP support for Canada.

Warm regards,

Cordiales salutations,
