PCK Intellectual Property is pleased to announce the completion of the work term for our first annual diversity paid internship and the awarding of our first scholarship for disadvantaged youths.

PCK implemented this scholarship and paid internship in 2020 as part of its deep commitment to improving diversity in our profession and to ensure that we continue building a profession that is reflective of the society in which we live and serve.

The winner of the internship and scholarship is Rashad James, a student at Western University in Ontario, Canada. Rashad is entering his second year at Western and will be studying Commercial Aviation Management.

PCK CEO Andrew Currier said:

“PCK is extremely proud to have the privilege of working with Rashad over the summer of 2021 and to assist him with his studies. Rashad made a huge contribution to help updating aspects [of] PCK’s automation software “Otto”, while also assisting with improving internal processes and documentation for the entire firm. We are delighted with the success of the internship and look forward to hosting future interns. As a valued PCK alumnus, we wish Rashad well with his studies and look forward to hearing about his successes.”

Rashad James had this kind note for PCK as he left:

“For the summer of 2021, I had the privilege of working with PCKIP after being selected for their inaugural Scholarship and Internship program. In these 16 weeks, I collaborated with numerous kind and understanding co-workers who were always available to help me with any questions I had. These friendly and welcoming attributes of the firm made my initial training and transition very easy. Various people checked in with me throughout the day and offered help wherever needed. As the weeks went on, I was given the independence to [choose] how and when I worked on my assignments. This was a crucial part in keeping the work I was assigned fun and fresh.  I wholeheartedly endorse the Internship program to anyone given the opportunity. PCK’s professional workplace environment teaches critical skills like organization, time management, and cooperation. It was the perfect job to keep my skills sharp over the summer and stay prepared for my return to university.  I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work with PCK and will always remember and value the beneficial life skills [learned]”.

Applications for PCK’s scholarship and internship for 2022 open as of November 1, 2021 and are due by March 1, 2022. You can view the details of both here: https://www.pckip.com/diversity
