David Johnson is a senior shareholder at PCK and leads the firm’s Manitoba practice. With a dual background in industry and intellectual property law, he offers clients practical, business-focused guidance for protecting innovation. Before entering the profession, David served as vice president of a flat panel display company, where he led technology development, built international partnerships, and oversaw commercialization initiatives. He also played a key role in building the patent portfolio of a major telecommunications carrier. David is familiar with patents in telecommunications, optics, artificial intelligence, and advanced materials. His approach combines legal precision with strategic insight, helping clients move from concept to commercialization with confidence.

PRACTICE FOCUS

David focuses on patent drafting, prosecution, and IP portfolio strategy for clients operating in high-tech and industrial fields. His technical experience spans artificial intelligence, large language models, software and hardware for mobile devices, flat panel displays, optics, VoIP, telecommunications systems, vacuum processes, magnetic machines, food inspection technology, and medical devices. He supports international patent filings, advises on commercialization pathways, and works closely with clients to ensure their IP strategy aligns with broader business goals.
