CanExport Innovation is a Government of Canada program that supports Canadian organizations pursuing international collaborative research and development agreements for a single technology. The program provides funding to help innovators establish international R&D partnerships, advance commercialization efforts, and support activities related to global intellectual property protection and market expansion. Funding covers up to 75% of eligible project costs related to international collaboration, commercialization, and IP-related activities.
ELIGIBILITY
Eligible applicants include:
Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises
Canadian academic institutions
Canadian non-government research centres
To qualify, the organization must:
Be registered in Canada
Have a CRA business number
Own, co-own, or have decision-making authority over the intellectual property rights for the technology
Have a technology prototype at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4 or higher
Intend to commercially launch the technology within 5 years
Funding may be used
for eligible services
Applying for intellectual property protection in international markets
Legal advisory services related to international IP protection
IP strategy support aligned with international commercialization and collaborative R&D activities
